Flexi vs Consecutive

The rail pass is the way to go

Sometimes it's not easy deciding which type of Eurail or BritRail pass is right for you. But normally if you have a good idea what your travel will be like, you can get a good idea about what you'll need. Europrail definately has the right pass for you.

Usually the Consecutive pass is ideal for those who might want to travel on a daily basis and cover as much travel as possible. The Consecutive rail Pass provides unlimited rail travel on any day or all days for the duration of the pass.

The Consecutive Pass

A 21 days consecutive rail pass for example allows you to board any train you wish at anytime you wish in a day.

Consecuctive day passes must be completed in the amount of days you purchased the pass for. Your pass begins on your first rail day.

So if you have a 21 day rail pass. All your rail travel must be completed in a 21 day period starting from your first rail day.

But perhaps you may want to take a few days in Amsterdam to smell the Tulips. Therefore the Eurail Flexipass might be ideal for you. This pass lets you come and go as you please without restrictions.

The Flexipass

The Flexipasses allow you a certain number of rail days to use at your leisure withing a longer time period.

For example:

If you choose the Eurail Flexipass, 10 days within a 2 month period, you can pick and choose the 10 days wish to travel. You may use them consecutively or non consecutively if you wish as long as your 10 rail days are completed with a 2 month period.

Try to decide on how many cities you want to visit, compared to the amount of time you're in the Europe. From there it makes it much easier to decide.

For example:
If you are visiting France and Spain for a month and visiting four cities, The four days in two months Eurail Flexipass would be ideal for you. This will allow you to stay an extended period of time in the cities of your choice. No need to worry about losing valuable rail days.

The 22 days Eurail pass might be a good idea as well. However, all your travel must be completed in a 22 day period starting from your first day of travel. You may want more flexibility.

In a nutshell:

A Eurail consecutive day pass provides unlimited rail travel on any day or all days for the duration of the rail pass. For example. If you have a 15 day consecutive rail pass you have 15 days to complete all your rail travel. Your rail pass begins on the first day of use.

A Eurail flexipass is valid for a specific number of days within a longer period. For example. If you have a 15 day railpass within a 2 month period, you may choose any 15 days you wish within that two month period. Your rail pass begins on the first day of use.
