Eurail is 49 years old. The original Eurailpass, introduced in March 1959, allowed for travel through 13 countries during a two-month period. It was the product offered by Europe's railroads to encourage non-Europeans to use the rails and not the newly competitive airline and motor vehicle alternatives. An "easy-to-use, multi-country, prepaid ticket for unlimited mileage use" was, literally, just the ticket. |

| Today there are numerous Eurail variations on the original theme, including a variety of classic first-class passes, Eurail Youthpasses for second-class travelers under the age of 26, Eurail Flexipasses allowing for travel during a limited number of days during the pass's period of validity, Eurail Saverpasses good for two or more people traveling. And Eurail Select Passes for those who want to design their own Eurail Pass between three, four or five adjoining countries.
Even the Eurail Network of countries has expanded, as has the number of non-network countries offering Eurail passes valid on their national rails. Eurail Passes are train tickets that give the holder unlimited rail travel in the 20 European countries called the "Eurail Network". This Eurail Network includes:

The Eurail Pass is one single ticket stapled in its own ticket jacket. Similar to an airline ticket. Your Eurail Pass simply replaces an individual tickets that you would normally purchase at a ticket window. Only much cheaper. And no ticket windows. On your first rail day, you just need to get it validated at a ticket window. An official will simply stamp your pass. From there you will not need to see another ticket window unless you want to make a reservation. Simply board your train, take your seat and wait for the conductor to come around. He'll take your Eurail pass, stamp or write in ink the rail day you are using. This allows other contuctors on other trains to see your travel patern. You have until midnight to complete your rail day. It really is THAT simple. |

Eurail Passes are undoubtedly the best value for your money. These passes offer deeply discounted European rail travel as an incentive to encourage more tourism from overseas. You will not find a better value, and in most cases you can easily spend 2-6 times as much if you were to purchase the actual individual train tickets in Europe. Since the Eurail products are intended for non-European residents, it is difficult to find an agency to buy these passes in Europe. Most Eurail Aid offices sell them, but at a 20% higher rate than in North America. Therefore, we stronlgy recommend you to buy your Eurail Products from us before your trip. |

The Eurail Pass allows for consecutive day travel from 15 to 60 days within the Eurail Network. The Eurail Flexipass allows non-consecutive day travel in all 20 Eurail countries, while the popular Eurail Select Pass gives you the flexibility to travel to 3 - 5 adjoining Eurail countries. If you plan on traveling in only one European country, you can choose a Eurail National Pass that allows for unlimited rail travel in one particular country. Or the Eurail Regional Passes that target two countries. For those traveling to Britain and would like to take advantage of the rail system. The BritRail Pass offers the same concept as the Eurail Pass. |
